For years, Rappenecker has repeatedly made use of different media. His works revolve around the questions of how real reality is and how artificial artificiality appears; they circle around the concerns of the technocrat versus the romantic and around the fundamental question of how authentic a work of art must be in order not to lose its legitimacy. In his exhibition, Rappenecker develops a complex staging of three groups of works that refer to an open and questioning condition at the end of the twentieth century.

Gert Rappenecker (*1955, Freiburg im Breisgau/DE) lives and works in Zurich.
